Daddy Daydreamer
This blog has been a labour of love, but all good things must come to an end. I've stopped adding new content to Daddy Daydreamer as of September, 2020.

Hi. My name's Jeff Shiau and I'm a writer from Ottawa, Canada. I published some stories about being a stay-at-home dad. People liked them and said I should write more.
So I did.
I love being a dad! Every day, I watch in amazement as my children grow and mature right in front of me. As my wife and I teach them, they teach us even more: about life, about ourselves, about being human.
By sharing my stories, I hope parents, especially fathers, reflect on what it means to be involved and emotionally present in the lives of their children. Not all fathers are dads; there's a big difference between the two. You don't need a blood relation to be called "Dad."
While biology makes you are a father, being there for your child makes you a dad.
Raising my kids has deepened my passion for writing, providing a whole new world of creative material. I enjoy all forms of writing but have a particular interest in creative nonfiction, short stories and poetry.
Some of my essays have been published in The Globe and Mail and The Good Men Project.
I think being a dad is a pretty cool thing.
If you enjoy my stories, please share them with others. Thank you so much to all my loyal and steadfast readers over the years.
With love and gratitude,
Jeff
